Love Fest in the Land of the Dead

In Your Face, Chicago host and hardcore horror fan, Deneen Melody leaves the safety of the city and heads out into the forbidden zone (the suburbs!) to delve deep into the dark and twisted world that is the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors.  More than just a horror movie convention, Fangoria has grown to be an annual gathering of fans, filmmakers, actors, models, artists, vendors and craftsmen.

These folks may be peddling films with names like “Fast Zombies with Guns” and “Blood Gnome” but don’t let that fool you. Underneath all the fake blood and gothic clothing they’re all a bunch of sweethearts and the convention has become a sort of annual family reunion for Chicagoland horror fanatics. It’s one big love fest!!

This very special episode of In Your Face, Chicago comes in at a whopping 11minutes, but for good reason. We met SO MANY interesting people that we could have done a three episode trilogy about our trip to Fangoria. Sorry to all the folks that we had to leave out because of time constraints!

So who will you see in this episode? Well there’s Lloyd Kaufman of Troma films and his pals the Toxic Avenger and Super-Tromette Pedophilia, Gothic Illusionist Ron Fritzgerald, one of the Godfathers of zombie filmmaking, John Russo, the Sex-Machine himself, actor and SFX legend Tom Savini and Chicago’s very own, Kitty the Zombie to name just a few.
